Evan Metropoulos Bio
Evan Metropoulos is a principal at Metropoulos & Co., a family-owned investment firm focused on revamping and rebuilding brands and businesses. Over the course of his career, Evan has purposed and executed innovative marketing strategies designed to accelerate growth of companies which they have invested in. He has also focused on real estate investment and development in luxury residential markets in California and Florida.
The Early Years
Evan ventured into the business world early on in his life. At the age of 16, he was running the marketing department at BumbleBee Tuna; which was eventually sold for a considerable profit.
Evan spent his Junior and Senior years of high school focused on his studies and the business world. According to an article at advance.uconn.edu he was quoted as saying:
"I was able to go to school from 7 to 11:30 a.m. and then I'd go to the office until 8 p.m."
One of Evan’s early ideas was taking samples of Gulden's mustard to film production companies and convincing them to place the product in movie sets. Just after that, he brought in Bumblebee Tuna and Gulden's as sponsors of the Howard Stern Show.
Evans father, Dean Metropoulos, was not excited about his young son entering the business world at such an early age. In the same Uconn article, Evan Metropoulos says his father, "believes in total education before you go into business. So it was hard to convince him to let me do this.” In fact, Evan Metropoulos worked closely with an Executive Vice President, Robert Sperry saying; "He's the one who helped me prove myself to my father."
After high school Evan continued his education at the University of Connecticut. He says the main reason he chose to study at the Stamford campus was the encouragement he received from Sharon White, assistant to the dean of students in Stamford. White was especially welcoming when he was visiting and helped pick teachers that fit his learning style.
Evan sought out ways to become successful from the beginning. From the small campus in Stamford, Metropoulos was able to cover his school work on campus while also covering his work responsibilities.
